Are you a machine embroiderer?
This is going to be so much fun!
For twelve weeks starting May 29th, I’m hosting a Mystery Quilt Along, and it’s absolutely free to join in.
We are making in-the-hoop quilt blocks and after the QAL is over you’ll have a gorgeous quilt full of flowers just in time for summer.
Twelve weeks, twelve blocks, one quilt. #FlowerMarketQAL
Join in at any time and get all the blocks so far.

Mystery Quilt FAQ
Easy! Just complete the form.

As long as you have an embroidery machine with a minimum sewing field of 4×4, an email address for me to send the files to, and a computer to open them, you can take part!
The digital files for each block will be sent to you every week by email along with full instructions. You’ll get each block in 4 sizes: 5″, 6″, 7″ and 8″.
The blocks combine applique and embroidery, and are assembled on your sewing machine as we go.
You’ll get full instructions for making the block each week. At the end you’ll get instructions for assembling and binding the finished quilt.
The first block files will be released on May 29th. You’ll get a new block each Friday after that.

Once the QAL is complete all the blocks and instructions will be available to purchase. But don’t wait! Register now and take part for free
If you join after May 29th, when we start, you’ll get an email with links to any files you’ve missed so far.
Then you’ll get the regular Friday email with everyone else.
You can download the files any time until the end of the Quilt-Along, on 14th August.
After that all the files will be bundled into one pattern and will be available for purchase here in my online shop.
You need to check your email folders for a confirmation email. Once you sign up you’ll get an email titled “Please confirm your subscription” asking you to confirm your correct email address. It looks like this (it will have your name and email where the {$name} and {$email} parts are, of course):

You absolutely MUST click the big button to confirm or you won’t get added to the list and you won’t get emails.
I think ninety per cent of people who don’t get emails haven’t confirmed their address.
If you don’t see it, it may be in your junk or spam or trash folders. Or you may have to wait a little while. Some email services can be a little slow.
Make sure you add lisa@flowerdogandco.com to your contacts. This helps make sure emails I send you end up in your inbox.
If you still can’t find the confirmation email, you can try signing up again.
All the block designs are supplied as zip files. The zip file includes the following file formats:
DST, EXP, HUS, JEF, PES, VIP, VP3, XXX.
Need another format? Message me and I’ll try to help.
Also included are step by step instructions and a colour chart.
This year the Mystery Quilt files and community will all live inside the Society of Stitchers. Each week a new block will be released, and all the files will be available to download inside the Mystery Quilt section of the Society.
You can find it here: 2026 Mystery Quilt
It’s still free to join, but it’s a much more flexible space where we can keep everything Mystery Quilt related all together.
I’ll email with the new block every week as usual, and you’ll be able to access all previous weeks from the same place.
From the start date (May 29th) through to the end of August, you get all the files and information totally free of charge. All the files will be available for download until midnight of August 31st 2026.
Why would I give this away for free? It’s not a scam, and I don’t believe it’s poor quality content. So what’s in it for me?
- I ran a free Mystery QAL back in lockdown and over 1000 people took part. You might be one of them!
- Before anyone invests their time or money, I want them to experience the quality, the depth, and the care that goes into what I create. This free Quilt Along is a testament to my commitment to your progress.
- A free quilt along is also really good way for me to build trust and credibility. If you like what I do, you’ll probably tell your friends, and you might even buy some of my designs. Even if you don’t go on to purchase from me, I love being part of a lively community of embroiderers, and I hope you will too.
- I’m a one-woman business. I can’t compete with high profile designers who have a team behind them, and I’m lost amongst the thousands of other embroidery digitisers who sell patterns online. Giving away this quilt pattern helps me stand out, and helps Flowerdog grow as a business.
You’ll need to purchase the fabrics, batting, stabiliser and threads. You’ll find quantity charts in these printable information sheets.
