Welcome to Flowerdog+Co

I grew up in a creative household. My mother was a weaver, and trained in dress design. She taught me to knit, sew and to be creative with fabric and thread from a very early age. For a while she had a shop next door to our house, and taught weaving and other textile crafts. I had access to a huge studio full of fabric, yarns and equipment throughout my teens.

I never had any formal training in art or textiles, but my home has always been filled with projects in progress.

I made my first patchwork back in the 1970s, using Laura Ashley calicos and english paper piecing. The design was from a victorian leaded glass window. I have no idea what happened to that early quilt, but I went on to design and make dozens more over the years.

Two things changed my quilt making – the arrival of the internet which opened up a glittering, colourful world of quilting inspiration and community, and the embroidery machine I bought a few years ago to embellish the clothes I sew for myself and for my three daughters. Many of my quilts incorporate in-the-hoop embroidery and applique.

My family is Swedish, and my designs are influenced by a Scandinavian aesthetic. My range of designs is expanding fast and I have plans for many exciting things in the future. I especially like designs that are part of a whole project, so you can create a finished, useable item. But I also love to see what you make with my designs, so I try to create them to be as versatile as possible.

Please feel free to show off your Flowerdog makes in our Facebook Group. It’s also the place to find out about free designs and forthcoming offers and challenges.
