Fish Supper applique quilt block

Throughout November, quilt designers around the world are creating quilt blocks on the theme of the kitchen.

My block for Quilt Block Mania celebrates the traditional British kitchen supper of fish & chips.

Fish and chips have been around since the 1860s. During WW2 they were exempt from rationing because the government feared the dish was so embedded in the nation’s culture that any limit would damage morale.

They also played a part in the D-Day Landings – British soldiers identified each other by crying out ‘fish’ and waiting for the response of ‘chips’

The Fish Supper block is also part of the Coronation Quilt Block of the Month.

Use traditional needle turn applique techniques to hand stitch the block, or go for a fast and fusible method (instructions included).

You can also stitch the block on your embroidery machine (it’s created in 4 hoopings and joined on the sewing machine).

What’s included?

You’ll get a PDF with full sized templates and links to tips and tutorials

You’ll also get 6×6″ machine embroidery files in the following formats: DST | PES | EXP | JEF | HUS | VIP | VP3 | XXX

The block measures 12″ finished, plus seam allowances.
