QUILT CLUB FAQs

Do you have questions about the quilt clubs? Want to know how they work, what you need and so on? This page is for you.

If you can’t find the information you need here, I’m only an email away.

Can I join if I’m a beginner?

If you know how to use your embroidery machine and sewing machine then yes! I’ll give you all the information you need as we go, plus we have super friendly and helpful people in the Facebook group who love to share their expertise.

Can I sell the things I make in the club?

The designs and projects included in my quilt clubs are covered by the same conditions as all my other designs; you may sell things you make yourself with my designs but you may not use my designs for large scale commercial production, and you may not sell the designs themselves. More about that here. Basically, if you’re making a few things yourself to sell online, eg on Etsy, or in person, eg at a craft fair, you’re fine.

You can read more about that HERE

Do I need to complete the project before the club ends?

No! All the files and designs are yours to keep and make whenever you like. We will be sharing our makes in the Facebook group while the club is running so make sure to join and be inspired by everyone else.

What if I don’t do Facebook?

I understand that Facebook isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so please feel free to use email to ask questions and show me your finished makes.

Do I need an embroidery machine AND a sewing machine?

The quilts can all be made on a standard sewing machine. Some quilts might include designs for an embroidery machine, you’ll also get options for hand sewing or sewing machine, whichever you prefer.

What size hoop do I need?

All the designs will be clearly marked with suggested hoop sizes and finished designs sizes. As hoop sizes vary between machines it’s a good idea to check my design will fit your hoop.

I have tried to design for the most popular hoop sizes (4×4, 5×7, 6×6, 8×8). If I make a design for an extra large hoop I’ll always try to offer a split version so you can use multiple smaller hoopings to create it.

What techniques will we use?

Techniques will vary for each quilt.

We’ll cover a range of techniques including piecing and applique, simple machine embroidery, hand & machine quilting.

  • Some embroidery machine designs might involve re-hooping and repositioning, but I’ll include instructions for that.
  • You’ll also need to use a standard sewing machine.
  • There might be some hand finishing involved as well.

I’ll include details of all techniques in the club information so you can check before you join.

Do I need to be in the UK?

No, you can join from anywhere in the world! If there are live sessions in the Facebook group, please bear in mind they will be in the evenings, UK time. You can watch again if you miss one.

What if I miss a Facebook live session?

You can watch again at any time, as often as you like.

Can I share photos of what I make?

Yes! Please share with us in the Facebook group. If you post your photos in other places, eg on social media or on your own blog, I’d love you to mention the Quilt Club. We even have our own hashtag: #FlowerdogQuiltClub

Can I give club membership as a gift to someone?

Yes you can! After you have subscribed please email us with your order number, the email address you ordered with and your friends email address so we can make sure the right person is on the list.

Do you sell kits for the projects?

I’m not currently offering kits, but if there’s enough demand I may do so in the future. In the meantime I’m compiling a list of suppliers (UK and elsewhere), so if you have a favourite source for supplies please let me know and I’ll add it.

Can I buy the projects without joining the club?

No. These designs and projects won’t be available for general purchase for 12 months from the date when enrolment opens. So the only way to get them is to join the club! There are always lots of designs and ideas for projects included, with a total value well over the cost of joining the club.
