Welsh Castle applique quilt block

Throughout June, quilt designers around the world are creating quilt blocks on the theme of place.

My block for Quilt Block Mania celebrates the principality of Wales with a castle design. There are over 400 castles in Wales, and the towers and crenellations are a familiar site in towns all over this beautiful country.

The Welsh Castle block is also part of the Coronation Quilt Block of the Month, which has extra significance as King Charles was Prince of Wales before his accession to the throne.

Use traditional needle turn applique techniques to hand stitch the block, or go for a fast and fusible method (instructions included).
